Today we want to turn the spotlight to one of the quieter parts of our recent Element 5 release: the power supply.  Our engineering team has taken great strides to decrease the overall size of the Element 5’s power supply while having it supply more power than our previous generation Thunderbolt 4 Element Hub’s power supply.

Despite providing 30W more power than the Element Hub’s power supply, the Element 5’s power supply is 42% smaller in overall volume, measuring in at 2.5”x4.5”x.9”.  This ends up being slightly smaller than Element 5 itself, which is a huge step forward for making the entire Element 5 setup more portable.

We are also pleased to say that the Element 5’s power supply is also compatible with many of our other docks, including the original Element Hub, TS3 Plus, TS3, USB-C Pro Dock, and USB-C HDMI Dock.  We do not recommend using the new power supply with docks that require more than 180W.  Long-term, we are planning on selling the Element 5 power supply on its own through our online store.
