AV Pro 2 provides up to 30W to charge your Windows or Mac laptops through USB-C interface.
As soon as AV Pro 2 connects to your laptop, it will start charging it. It is important to note that the AV Pro 2 will continue to charge your Windows laptops, MacBook or MacBook Pro as long as the AV Pro 2 remains connected to your computer—even after manually powering the drive down using its power button. In order to completely cease charging, you must disconnect the A/C adapter from your AV Pro 2 or disconnect AV Pro 2 from your laptop.
The AV Pro 2 serves as both a storage solution as well as a USB HUB solution for multiple connected USB devices. Therefore, it is important to ensure that all USB devices such as Apple SuperDrive, USB flash drive, CalDigit Tuff, connected to the AV Pro 2—as well as the AV Pro 2 itself—are properly ejected from the system before powering off from the front power button or remove the power cord. This will help to avoid possible data corruption as a result of improperly ejecting your storage devices.
If your USB devices aren’t accessible in a Windows environment, they may have been automatically been disabled. In order to re-enable these and ensure that these won’t be disabled again, please launch the program ‘Device Manager’. From here, please navigate to the Universal Serial Bus controller branch, and double click on the item labeled ‘USB Mass Storage Device’. This will bring up a pop-up window that will have information regarding these USB ports. On this window, please navigate to the ‘Power Management’ tab and uncheck the selection titled ‘Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power’.
If you have more than one ‘USB Mass Storage Device’, please repeat this process for each of them in order to ensure full device connection to the dock.
Yes! You can chain your AVPro2 devices together by connecting the USB-A to USB-C or USB-A to USB-microB cables from one device to the next one on the chain. Under ideal conditions, you can chain up to 5 AVPro2 devices together in a single chain. You can also connect any USB device (such as a CalDigit Tuff drive or Apple SuperDrive) to the end of any chain.
