We suggest to leave this feature as default. If you do not want anyone to modify / add / subtract data from the VR, then please change this setting (typical for school / library usage). Write Protect mode (Read only mode) only applies to RAID 0. It does not support in RAID 1 or JBOD mode. Some OS may have difficulty to work with this mode, so please test this function on your own environment.
