Installing USB-C Ethernet Drivers on Windows

Installing USB-C Ethernet Drivers on Windows

Products Affected:

USB-C Dock

If you’ve connected a USB-C Dock to your computer and the connected ethernet cord isn’t receiving a network connection, there may be a chance that the driver is not loaded onto your computer.

To check to see if this is the case, open the Device Manager application while the USB-C dock is connected and look for a Network Adapter labeled ‘Cypress GX3 SuperSpeed to Gigabit Ethernet Bridge Controller #13’. If this is apparent, your computer has the physical capability to connect to this network. If not, please follow the steps below to establish this connection.

Please Wait

If you have a computer that can connect to a wireless network, please ensure that WiFi is enabled and wait for your computer to automatically download this. This driver should automatically load in 5 to 15 minutes, depending on your network connection.

Manual Installation

If you have a computer that cannot connect to a wireless network, or if this service isn’t being added automatically for some reason, you can add this yourself. To do so, please follow the following steps:

Please download the Windows Ethernet driver here. Open the downloaded folder and open the folder labeled ‘USB-C Dock-win’. Please locate the zipped file which is labeled with the version of Windows operating system that matches the one you are currently using, and extract this file to your desktop.Connect the USB-C dock to your computer and ensure that an ethernet cable with an active network connection is connected to the ethernet port.Open device manager and locate either ‘Cypress GX3 SuperSpeed to Gigabit Ethernet Bridge Controller #13’ under the Network adapters menu or ‘USB-C Dock ETH’ under Other devices.Right-click on this service and click ‘Update driver’. This will bring up a pop up window to search for drivers. Please select ‘Browse my computer for driver software’.Select the ‘Browse’ option and locate the folder you extracted to your desktop earlier.Once this is selected, please select ‘Next’ to install this driver.

From here, the driver should be installed and a wired network connection should be available to choose from within your network preferences. If this is not the case, please ensure that other devices are able to connect to this ethernet cord and receive a network connection.
