From The CalDigit Team (Dec 20, 2006)

Dear Partners!

The CalDigit Team would like to offer our warmest holiday greetings to you. This season has given the CalDigit Team many achievements to be thankful for; we would like to share our latest updates with you!

DVExpo 2006
DVExpo
The Digital Video Expo was held on November 15-17, 2006, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Some members of the CalDigit Team manned the booth and interacted with many end-users. CalDigit was keyed up to answer the questions of end-users, and excited to demonstrate our fully capable range of products while doing live capturing with real time demo.

CalDigit was delighted to have Dan May, CEO of Blackmagic Design, USA perform a demonstration on the workflow of Blackmagic Design HDMI INTENSITY card, along with our S2VR HD SATA II 3Gb/s RAID subsystem, and our FASTA 4-e 4 port controller card. *Still-to-Date: CalDigit has the only 4-port SATA II controller card to perform flawlessly on all 4 ports with the new Apple MacPro machines. The combination of the S2VR HD and the Blackmagic HDMI INTENSITY card formulates a great combination for people who want to do HD editing at a truly affordable price.

NEW FireWire VR!
On November 15, 2006, CalDigit proudly introduced the first configurable FireWire RAID solution that supports uncompressed 8-bit and10-bit Standard Definition Video Editing. FireWireVR can also be used for photo libraries or audio applications. The FireWireVR product was unveiled on three events: the DVExpo in Los Angeles, the Interbee in Japan, and Digital Media Festival in Australia. Admiration came from all who saw the phenomenal benefits of this truly revolutionary product. A special feature of the FireWireVR that sets itself apart from the competition is its configurable RAID modes: Performance (RAID 0), Protected (RAID 1), or JBOD can all be easily configured from a switch on the back panel of the unit. The FireWireVR has the best industrial design: quiet, cool performance utilizing a ball bearing fan, and built rugged and tough for professional use. Our modular design allows the drives and fan to be easily swapped out by the user in the event of a failure, saving you from having to endure long downtimes.

A Review from Jared Picune
GeekyMac On November 28th, 2006 CalDigit was very pleased to receive a review from Jared Picune. Introducing Jared Picune, he is a part of the Denver Final Pro Users Group and a Creativecow.net leader. Jared's most well known project is the Baby Einstein, and he has completed several videos in the series for Disney. After working with several multimedia firms, Jared realized that his zeal was in the video-editing industry. Jared is now the President of Idea Spring Editing, a post-production boutique at The Ogden House in Denver.

Jared gave CalDigit S2VR Duo "Geek Factor 5" out of 5!

"The CalDigit S2VR Duo system is a stunningly sleek and powerful RAID, perfect for the demanding Final Cut Pro editor. This little box packs a big punch, and with a quick and easy installation process, no edit suite should be without one (or two). The speed of S2VR Duo is rather impressive. Instead running a traditional read write test, I decided to jump right into the real world testing. I started with a 10 bit uncompressed video clip, and played back in Final Cut Pro. It played nicely, as to be expected. Then I added another track and it held up nicely without a dropped frame. I quickly found the Final Cut's RT Extreme was my limiting factor."
